SAIL AFRICA
Sail Africa is a newly established company that operates a luxury sailing yacht based out of Zanzibar allowing one to explore the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia and the Tanzanian and Kenyan coastlines. In addition to this we also conduct high-end privately guided safaris into East Africa's interior. We only cater to small groups (6 guests max.) and apart from providing a unique combination of sea and safari, we also offer purely sailing or safari itineraries.
OUR YACHT
Midsummer is the basis of our sea operation and is a classic 95-year old, fully refitted and immaculately maintained sailing schooner. Midsummer is based out of Zanzibar and sails between Lamu on Kenya's northern coastline and Tanzania's Spice Islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia.
Midsummer has three cabins, two twins and one double accommodating a maximum of six guests. All cabins have en-suite showers, the master cabin complete with a full sized freestanding bath thus providing a combination of comfort and luxury that only a yacht of her size and style can provide. Her crew of six, including hostess and chef will ensure that each guests every need is attended to.
Midsummer will appeal to a wide variety of guests from those who want a purely sailing or diving holiday, to those who want nothing more than to potter between the islands. As a guest you can decide whether to take an active part in sailing, or simply relax and let the crew take the reins.
Apart from diving, snorkelling and fishing equipment, Midsummer also has an inflatable for water-sports and for providing transport to and from secluded beaches. We can take you to secluded bays where you can swim, dive, snorkel or fish in crystal clear turquoise water, or if you are more interested in shopping and sightseeing we will take you into the thriving colourful ports and markets of Lamu, Mombasa and Zanzibar.
Chartering options include either privately chartering the entire yacht or simply booking a cabin. Please contact us for information regarding her current routing and chartering options.

A classic Kenyan safari plus 4 days
sailing around the exotic island of Lamu
Kenya is home to an astonishing array of wildlife and landscapes and
is a gameviewer's paradise. This short trip incorporates the glittering
lakes of the Rift Valley and the rolling savannah of the prolific Masai
Mara - made famous by the incredible yearly migration of millions of
wildebeeste and zebras. Kenya's birdlife is also amazingly rich, with
four hundred species at the Rift Valley Lakes alone, and the rosy-pink
view over the flamingo population on Lake Nakuru is particularly spectacular.
We stay in only two bases to minimise travel and maximise gameviewing.
Our lodge at Elementaita is an ideal place to relax after an overnight
flight and to explore Lake Nakuru National Park, the best small park
in East Africa with its prolific rhino population. The Masai Mara fulfils
all expectations of rolling savannah, steep escarpments and prolific
game. The perfect complement to this safari is the dhow trip around
Lamu Archipelago. We fly straight into remote Lamu, the centre of East
African Swahili culture, where we meet our dhow on which we cruise tropical
islands.
